Where it has been decided that there is sufficient cause to warrant further action in relation to a complaint, the Preliminary Proceedings Committee may, under Section 40 of the Pharmacy Act 2007, refer a complaint for resolution by mediation.

No attempt may be made to resolve a complaint by mediation without the consent of the complainant and the registered pharmacist or pharmacy owner.

Section 37 of the Pharmacy Act 2007 empowered the Council of the PSI to devise guidelines about resolving complaints by mediation. In this regard, please see the PSI’s Mediation Guidelines.
