Cancelling your Registration
Pharmacists who no longer wish to practise as registered pharmacists, for example after retirement, may voluntarily cancel their registration. Pharmacists who wish to cancel their registration must request to do so in writing and a form is available for requesting cancellation of registration.. A form can also be requested to be sent by post by contacting the PSI Registration Unit.
Since the introduction in November 2008 of the new pharmaceutical registration systems under Part 4 of the Pharmacy Act 2007, the register of pharmacists is intended to be a ‘live’ register of practising pharmacists. The PSI recognises that a number of retired pharmacists have chosen, after many years of service to their respective communities and patients, to voluntarily cancel their registration as a pharmacist and so their names are no longer on the public register.
Pharmacists who have voluntarily cancelled their registration can apply at a later date to the PSI for restoration to the Register subject to the successful completion of a restoration process.
The Registration Unit can be contacted by emailing registration@thepsi.ie or by phone (++353)(01) 2184000.
