NEW PRESIDENT OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF IRELAND

Wednesday, July 13, 2011: The Council of the PSI (Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland), the Pharmacy Regulator, has elected a new President, Paul Fahey.  Eoghan Hanly has been elected Vice-President.

The PSI has also announced new appointees to its Council.   These are: pharmacists Leonie Clarke, Noel Stenson, John Corr and Keith O’Hourihane; HSE nominee Professor Ken McDonald; nominee of universities with schools of pharmacy, Professor Caitriona O’Driscoll;
nominee in relation to continuing professional development (CPD) for pharmacists, Professor Ciaran O’Boyle; and other public interest nominees, Dr Michael Barry, Fionan O’Cuinneagain and Dr Jean Holohan.
Paul Fahey succeeds Ms Noeleen Harvey who served as President for two years.  Paul Fahey is a Community Pharmacist from Tullamore, Co Offaly.  He holds a B.Sc. (Pharm) Hons and a Post Graduate Diploma (Community Pharmacy) from Queens University, Belfast.  He is also currently undertaking a Masters Degree in Health Informatics in Trinity College Dublin.  He is owner of Fahey’s Pharmacy, Patrick Street, Tullamore and also works as a freelance IT Consultant. 
Eoghan Hanly graduated from Robert Gordon University Aberdeen in 1995 with a degree in Pharmacy.  Since 1996 he has practised as a pharmacist in his family’s pharmacy in Loughrea, Co Galway, which was established by his grandfather, P.J. Killian in 1940.
