National Route of Registration

This process is for graduates who have obtained a pharmacist qualification from an Irish School of Pharmacy.

Pharmacists who have successfully completed the National Pharmacy Internship Programme (NPIP), who have been awarded their M. Pharm Certificate, may make an application to register as a pharmacist with us.

Applying to register as a pharmacist is a separate process to be undertaken with the PSI once an intern has successfully completed all components of the NPIP i.e. the in-service practical training and the Professional Registration Exam (PRE). You cannot begin working as a pharmacist in Ireland until you have been placed on the PSI's Register of Pharmacists, following a successful application for registration with the appropriate first-time application fee.

The PRE takes place in May and October each year.

For applicants who wish to be registered in the Register of Pharmacists on Sunday, 1 December 2019, the latest date for submission of complete and correct application papers will be Wednesday, 13 November 2019.

From 2020, graduates of the five year Master’s degree programme in pharmacy will also be eligible to apply to register.
