PSI National Pharmacy Summit 2008

The PSI will hold the annual National Pharmacy Summit 2008, on Tuesday 4th November at 2pm at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin.

  • Guest of honour will be the Minister for Health and Children, Ms Mary Harney TD.
  • The event will begin at 2pm with a welcome from PSI President Dr Bernard Leddy.
  • Refreshments will be served around 5pm.

Speakers for the event include:

Prof Han de Gier: Head of Department of Pharmacotherapy and Pharmaceutical Care at Groningen University, Netherlands
Prof de Gier is lead on DRUID (EU project on drugs and driving) work package 7 – Dissemination and Guidelines, and formerly President of ICADTS (International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety). He will talk about the DRUID initiative and the impact of medicines on road safety.

Dr Catherine Duggan: Member of Council of RSPGB, Associate Director for Clinical Pharmacy- Development and Evaluation, S&SE England, NHS and Programme Director, Advanced Pharmacy Practice Programme, School of Pharmacy, University of London
Dr Duggan will speak on Pharmacy and Risk Management: Policy, Evidence and Practice.

Prof Joy Wingfield: Professor of Pharmacy Law and Ethics at Nottingham University
Prof Wingfield will speak about ‘Moving Morality’: the development of Codes of Ethics and Conduct.

Dr Almath Spooner: Market Surveillance Executive, Irish Medicines Board
Dr Spooner will talk about Pharmacovigilance and the Role of the Pharmacist.
