PSI Public Consultation on a Charter for Patients

December 02, 2015

The PSI has developed a Patient Charter that we intend to publish in 2016. We are currently inviting feedback on the Patient Charter during a public consultation this December.

The PSI’s role is to act to protect and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of patients and the public, and the aim of this Patient Charter is to:

  • inform patients about what they can expect in their interaction with a pharmacist or pharmacy and highlight the role of pharmacists as medicines experts;
  • empower patients to actively look after their own health;
  • influence the quality of care provided by pharmacists and services provided in pharmacies;
  • raise awareness of the PSI as the pharmacy regulator, which includes a responsibility for handling complaints made against pharmacists and pharmacies.

The Patient Charter is intended as a short, informative and accessible document for all pharmacy users.

Comments are invited using an online public consultation survey. See our consultations page for additional information.
