New President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland

The Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI), the pharmacy regulator, has elected a new President, Dr Ann Frankish.

The new President was met by Minister of State with special responsibility for Primary Care, Social Care (Disabilities & Older People) and Mental Health, Kathleen Lynch TD who also addressed the Council at an event in PSI House, Fenian Street.

Ann Frankish, previously Vice-President, was also President prior to the introduction of the Pharmacy Act of 2007 which established the current regulatory system. She graduated from the UK and first registered with the PSI in 1982. She served for 26 years as Chief Pharmacist in the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin, a post from which she has recently retired. Ann has had a long career in pharmacy, in a variety of settings including community, hospital, and academia and has recently taken up a role in industry. Ann follows Leonie Clarke as PSI President.
