Inspector/Authorised Officer required for Southern/Munster region

The Position

A vacancy has arisen for the full-time position of Inspector/Authorised Officer based in the Southern/Munster region. This position arises at a time of significant and ongoing developments in the regulation of pharmacy. The purpose of this position is to co-ordinate and/or conduct inspections/investigations referred by the Head of Inspection and Enforcement Unit in line with the processes and procedures of the Inspection and Enforcement Unit, the provisions of the Pharmacy Act 2007 and other relevant legislation.

The salary for the position of Inspector will be in accordance with the salary scale for a Senior Pharmacist as approved by the Department of Health and Children, starting at no higher than Point 2 of the scale, i.e. €62,204.00 per annum.


The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate should be a registered pharmacist with a minimum of 5 years' post-registration experience. A thorough knowledge of pharmacy, medicines and drugs legislation is essential. A proven track record in carrying out inspections/investigations/audits, preferably in pharmacy or pharmacy related activities is desirable. Candidates for this post must have a capacity to conduct enquiries, obtain information and use sound judgment to reach conclusions with excellent analytical skills. Proficiency in ICT is required. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and/or databases together with knowledge of forensics, particularly relating to medicines and pharmacy is also desirable. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a strong commitment to the purpose and ethos of patient care and safety within which the PSI
operates.

 

A full clean driving licence is required for this position.
